Dynabook Europe announces the Portégé X40-K, a new 14” device in Dynabook’s premium business offering designed for flexible workers. The X40-K has a number of enhanced mobility applications, with which Dynabook responds to the changing needs of end users.

Connectivity for employees on the go
The Portégé X40-K is supported by the 12th generation Intel Core processors and runs on Windows 11 Pro, and offers various connectivity options that are an ideal combination for the hybrid worker. With not one but two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, additional USB-A 2.3 ports, LAN and a Micro SD slot, users are assured to stay connected to everything they need. Think of an external screen, charging and data transfer. A separate AC plug provides additional charging capability, freeing up both Thunderbolt 4 ports for other uses.
The model includes the latest Intel AX211 2×2 Wi-Fi 6E technology along with Bluetooth 5.2. The X40-K offers up to 32GB DDR 3200MHz memory, configurable in two SO-DIMM slots for Intel Iris Xe graphics performance. SSD options up to 1TB are also available, using the latest Gen 4 standard for faster transfer speeds.
AI-assisted sound and visuals at your fingertips
The Portégé X40-K’s new AI audio and HD with facial recognition camera provides employees with tools to collaborate remotely. The Realtek AI audio solution ensures noise reduction of specific background noises, while the user can be heard clearly. In addition to this, the AI camera delivers light correction and face positioning for a perfect video experience. Employees can keep their environment private with a number of cross-platform, smart ways to hide their backgrounds. Because this is at the camera level, privacy is guaranteed. Even if a non-standard video conferencing solution is used.
The Portégé X40-K features an aluminum chassis, with the updated Dark Tech Blue finish. Both the top and the touchpad have diamond-cut edges. The narrow display bezels on three sides maximize screen capacity without compromising size or portability. The device has a thickness of only 17.9mm and a weight of 1.46kg, depending on the configuration. Thanks to the lowered, frameless keyboard, the non-reflective screen is protected from any dirt on the keyboard when the laptop is closed. An advanced cooling system has two exceptionally quiet fans and a rubber foot on the bottom to separate hot and cold air.
Protection against scratches and spills
An innovative anodizing process provides a crisp metallic finish that protects against scratches, while the spill-resistant keyboard provides further protection. Collaboration is further facilitated by the X40-K’s 180-degree opening degree, allowing users to easily and efficiently share information with colleagues.
The device has been subjected to rigorous MIL STD 810H testing to demonstrate ruggedness. In addition, the Portégé X40-K comes with Dynabook’s Reliability Guarantee. In the event that the device breaks within the warranty period of one year, the customer will receive a free repair and a refund of the purchase price. This warranty is available in selected markets and is subject to conditions.
Uncompromising Safety
Security was a priority in the development of the devices. The Portégé X40-K complies with Microsoft’s Secured-core device requirements. Dynabook’s in-house developed BIOS, combined with facial and fingerprint authentication and Trusted Platform module (TPM) 2.0, provides protection against the growing threat of attackers. A webcam shutter, security lock lock and optional smart card reader are also available.
The Portégé X40-K will be available from May 2022.
