Dying Light 2 does not support crossplay at launch

Dying Light 2 will be released in the already packed month of February. There was quite a bit of talk about the upcoming survival game last week, because developer Techland revealed that we had to give in about 500 hours to complete the game, a bit later was somewhat nuanced. If you were already planning to spend so many hours in Dying Light 2, you will unfortunately have to do it alone or with players on the same platform, because the game does not support crossplay functionalities at launch.

Developer Techland announced this in a live stream which was held last Thursday evening. In the Twitch stream, the devs are answering several questions from the community, and when asked if Dying Light 2 will support crossplay from day one, they unfortunately had to temper our expectations:

“No, not at this moment; it won’t be available.”

It doesn’t stop there, because in addition to crossplay, Dying Light 2 also does not support cross-generation functionalities. Whoever hoped to play with his or her buddy on an older console, therefore, comes home from a cold fair. Fortunately, there is also good news, because if you and your friends have the same console, it is possible to walk through the story of the game with up to 4 players. Just make sure you agree on who’s in charge, because whoever hosts the game ultimately gets the final judgment in all decisions that affect the story. So, don’t argue people!
