Cardinal Nicholas Cheong Jin-suk, 89, former Archbishop of Seoul, South Korea, pledged in 2006 to donate “his organs and corneas,” writes the website KoreaTimes.co.kr on March 3.
Cheong was hospitalized on February 21 and chose not to receive life support treatment.
The newspaper quotes another document from 2018 signed by Cheong, in which he writes: “If possible, I would like to donate my corneas.”
While corneas can be removed from a dead person and reused, the rest of the organs must be removed from a living body, killing the person in the process, which is immoral.
The obvious intention of the KoreaTimes.co.kr article is to use the cardinal to propagate immoral organ donation.
