DxOMark Mi 11 scores only 120 points, far less than Mi 11 Ultra

Four months after its launch, DxOMark finally released the results of the rear camera review of the Mi 11 flagship smartphone. Yes! The first device in the Mi 11 series to have a 108 MP camera was awarded a score of 120 points by DxOMark, making it on par with several other flagship smartphones, such as the Pixel 5.

Obviously, the score achieved puts the Mi 11 far behind its sibling, the Mi 11 Ultra. As we can see, currently the Mi 11 Ultra is in the top position with a score of 143 points. In more detail, the Mi 11 in the camera test for photos scored 127 points, zoom score was 59 points, while for video the score was only 107 points.

When compared to the Mi 10T Pro which also has a 108 MP triple camera setup, the Mi 11 scores slightly higher. Noted, in the zoom capability Mi 10T Pro score reaches 61 points and in the video category the score reaches 110 points. But this smartphone has a lower photo score of 121 points.

According to the DxOMark review, the camera on the Mi 11 normally opens properly but is sometimes lacking in some cases resulting in clipped shadows. However, this is rarely a problem due to the fairly wide dynamic range on the smartphone.

In addition, DxOMark also praised the very detailed image produced by the main camera, even getting the latest high score, namely 111 points for texture. Autofocus isn’t great when compared to some of the other flagships as it slows down in low light but is fast and accurate when there’s enough light.

DxOMark also says that the ultra-wide camera built into the Mi 11 does a great job. However, there are still some drawbacks, one of which is the soft effect at some corners and edges of the resulting color.

It is very likely that the Mi 11 would score higher if the smartphone had a telephoto camera which would help its zoom score. However, as we all know that Xiaomi decided to use a 5 MP macro camera instead.

A side effect that ultimately must be accepted by the user, the resulting photo will lose detail when the photo is enlarged. For portraits, the Mi 11 also does a good job of separating the subject from the background but the results are sometimes inconsistent and artifacts often appear in the resulting image.

The high-resolution main camera also helps Mi 11 to get high video scores. The noise level is said to be “very low” and there is a lot of detail when recording in 4K. Unfortunately, color accuracy has decreased when recording in low light, aka low light.
