Heavy thunderstorms at the start of the weekend: Bayern card split – DWD warns

Weather in Bavaria: Thunderstorms and storms south of the Danube
Already on Thursday evening, May 12, the first thunderstorms moved across the Free State. However, these were largely limited to Swabia and the region around Ingolstadt. Here, the German Weather Service (DWD) warned of strong thunderstorms with gusts of wind around 75 km/h and rainfall of around 20 liters per square meter. It also hailed occasionally. The north remained from the storms spared.
On Friday the division into north and south remains, what that Wetter concerns, exist. While the Franconians and Upper Palatinate can enjoy an almost cloudless sky with lots of sunshine, it looks uncomfortable in the south. Showers can occur again and again in a band from Augsburg to Passau and in the direction of the Alps. “From noon, thunderstorms are more frequent, especially in the Alps and in the southern foothills,” warns the DWD. Overall it will remain warm with 22 to 23 degrees in the north. South of the Danube, the values on the thermometer in the rainy foothills of the Alps climb to just under 20 degrees. Things are no different in the state capital of Munich.
