The months of October and November were joyous enough for Dwayne Johnsonbecause finally one of his big dreams has come true: the first independent film about Black Adam is released in theaters.
But this joy did not last long. First came disappointment with the box office results, then uncertainty about the character’s future. He was determined by the change of CEOs of DC.
James Gunn and Peter Safran only took over superheroics in October, and we’ve already seen some pretty big changes. The first was that there was not going to be a third Wonder Woman film. Or at least not as it should have been.

Then it became clear that Henry Cavill wasn’t returning as Superman after all. And amid this upheaval, reports surfaced a few days ago that Dwayne Johnson had unfollowed Warner Bros. and the “Black Adam” Instagram account, something that has been pointed to as a harbinger of trouble. It turns out there is a reason.
We learn from The Hollywood Reporter that the changes have also affected Black Adam. On his Twitter profile, Dwayne Johnson announced that he had a conversation with James Gunn. And no, he wasn’t particularly kind to the actor.
As a result, it’s become clear that there won’t be a second Black Adam film at this stage. Overall, the character won’t be part of the first stage of the cinematic universe that Gunn and Safran will begin building.
Despite this devastating news, The Rock writes that they have agreed to stay in touch to find the best way for Black Adam to fit into DC’s future. However, that all means only one thing: in fact, all of the power in DC has been given to Gunn and Safran.
Not least because before their appointment, Dwayne Johnson was planning to create his own corner of the fragmented DC superhero universe. And there, we see a movie where Black Adam faces Superman.
