Dutchman sentenced to life in prison for four murders in Belgium | NOW

The 29-year-old Dutchman Alexander D. was sentenced to life imprisonment in Belgium on Thursday and ten years TBS for four murders. In 2017, he killed his ex-girlfriend, her grandparents and a photographer for whom the eighteen-year-old woman sometimes posed. He cannot appeal against the decision of the Belgian people’s jury.

On July 25, 2017, D. went to the home of his ex-girlfriend Maïlys Descamps, whom he had met through the internet. He stabbed her to death and also killed her grandfather and grandmother. A few days earlier, Descamps had texted the Dutchman that she would not return to him.

She had previously told the then 24-year-old D. about spicy photo shoots with a 30-year-old photographer, which may have involved sexual contact. After the relationship with D. ended, he digitally stalked and threatened Descamps for weeks.

The night before D. killed his ex and her grandfather and grandmother, he interrogated and tortured the photographer for whom his ex posed in his house in Ghent. He did that for eight hours, after which he stabbed him to death.

The evening after the murder of his ex and her grandparents, D. was arrested. In the meantime, the police had made a connection with the murder of the photographer in the night of 24 to 25 July 2017. According to the jury, the murders were premeditated. D. spoke to his victims, who in both cases begged not to use further violence.
