A Dutch man died in Switzerland on Wednesday when he jumped while wearing a wingsuit. It concerns experienced wingsuit pilot Jarno Cordia (44), according to his family on Facebook.
Swiss police confirm that a man died on Wednesday in the mountains near Lauterbrunnen, but have not yet revealed the identity of the person who died.
The victim had jumped off a jump point called High La Mousse in a wingsuit, according to police. For unknown reasons, he collided with a rock face several times.
Rescuers could do nothing more for the man. Bern police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Cordia could still be seen on the March TV show The center. In it she mentioned that she had already done thousands of jumps. Her sister writes Facebook that “leap of faith” in Switzerland became his last.
On Thursday evening, the Farnesina was unaware of the situation.
Wingsuit pilots wear a special suit that allows them to hover in the air. They jump from airplanes or mountains.
