On the website in question, it was possible to order a so-called ‘corona kit’ for 33.50 euros, with which the buyer could infect himself with SARS-CoV-2. According to the website, everything needed for a deliberate contamination would simply be delivered by post. In this way, people could regain access to the nightlife without a vaccine but through proof of cure.

The man was arrested on Friday by the Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service FIOD. He has now been released, a spokeswoman confirms, but an investigation is still underway to determine whether and how many tubes the man sold, and whether the virus worked. The website has since been taken offline.
