Dispute resolved and recorded: Hockey goalkeeper Jean-Paul Danneberg was able to settle his dispute with Dutch player Duco Telgenkamp. The Dutchman has apologized, as the South Hesse native explained when asked by harmony.fm. He was also allowed to sign the golden book of the city of Darmstadt.

The 22-year-old hockey goalkeeper became world champion in 2023 and returned to Darmstadt with a silver medal from the Olympic Games in Paris.

Hockey scandal at the Olympics

In the Olympic final, there was an argument between him and the Dutch player Duco Telgenkamp. After the Dutch had won the game, the latter approached the German goalkeeper, made provocative gestures and lightly hit him on the helmet. This led to a brawl on the field.

Telgenkamp apology via Whatsapp

Danneberg told us exclusively in Darmstadt that Telgenkamp had apologized to him. The Dutchman had written to him on WhatsApp. They could both continue to look each other in the eye. There was no bad blood.

Entry in the Golden Book

Danneberg was also allowed to sign the golden book of the city of Darmstadt. As a true Darmstadt native, he signed with the words “Heinerliebe forever!” and his number #74. He especially thanked his family and his old club TEC Darmstadt.
