A 29-year-old Dutchman died in a plane crash in Malawi yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports. The man lived abroad, but for privacy reasons the ministry is not reporting which country it was.

It was already known that a Dutch woman had survived the accident. She is not in mortal danger, a spokesperson says. Her age and place of residence have not been disclosed. The ministry also says nothing about the relationship between the two.

According to reports, the accident in the African country local media the pilot also died. The ministry knows nothing about the identity of this person. “We only have information about Dutch people involved,” the spokesperson said. Media in Malawi speak of three passengers of foreign origin.

Rescued from water

The plane was flying between two national parks, a flight that takes more than an hour. According to local authorities, the plane crashed in shallow water near the shore of Lake Malawi. Fishermen rescued the woman from the water and took her to hospital.
