Dutch youth caught in Belgian marl quarry | Inland

The local police in the Bilzen-Riemst-Hoeselt area found the young people in possession of backpacks during a check in a quarry on Walloon territory. That happened between 9 pm and midnight. In the neighborhood, in Klein Ternaaien, another three cave walkers were discovered.

“Entering the marl quarries can lead to very dangerous situations,” says mayor Mark Vos van Riemst.

Fines

The six Dutch youths are fined for having entered a prohibited and protected area and for violating the corona guidelines. Regular police and forest rangers checks are in place to protect valuable underground heritage and the bat population. At the end of August, an illegal rave party with fifteen revelers was stopped in the quarries.
