Dutch won’t watch World Cup quarter-finals because of Amalia’s birthday party | Royal family

King Willem-Alexander and his family will not be watching the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar on Friday night, in which the Netherlands play Argentina. The king said Wednesday Show news that the family will then celebrate Princess Amalia’s birthday.

The Princess of Orange, who turned nineteen on Wednesday, is not celebrating her birthday in the spotlight anyway. The birthday of the heir to the throne is a private matter.

Earlier this year, Amalia moved into a room in Amsterdam. But in October, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima announced that their daughter would be moving back home due to the threats.

Máxima said the threats surrounding the princess have “huge consequences” for her life. “She hasn’t left the house. That means she doesn’t live in Amsterdam, she can’t really go out. The consequences are very hard for her. It’s not a student life for her like the others have done,” the queen said .
