Dengue is transmitted by the tiger mosquito from Asia, which now occurs in large parts of southern Europe due to the import of used tires. Infection with the virus can cause fever, severe headache, pain in muscles, bones and joints, skin rash and vomiting. In some cases the disease is much more serious and infection can lead to death.

The platform believes that the Dutch government should warn travelers to southern Europe about the risk of infection with dengue, zika and chikungunya, and should provide information about preventive measures.
