Dutch tax advisor Frank B. has been charged in New York with plans to hide more than 100 million dollars (89 million euros) from the US tax authorities (IRS), the New York prosecutor said on Friday.
“B. thought he was living above the law,” says IRS special agent Thomas Fattorusso involved in the case. “This was not a get-rich-quick scheme, but he used some sophisticated techniques to keep this tax scam going for several years.”
The 63-year-old tax advisor from Naarden was a former tax consultant for world-famous DJs such as Afrojack and Tiësto and for various television presenters and fashion models. His participation in a conspiracy to commit tax fraud would have lasted more than seven years, according to the prosecution.

B., as a tax advisor to many high net worth clients, was aware of the responsibility his clients had to pay U.S. taxes on their income, but he ignored this obligation and chose to fraudulently hide this income from the IRS. prosecutor.

B.’s Dutch lawyer said this week that her client believes he “operated within all international tax laws and treaties”. “He worked in a legal framework that tax treaties provided for him,” she said. “The reason for putting these structures in place in the first place is to avoid the risk of double taxation.”
B. was arrested in Italy earlier this year at the request of the United States. He was returned to custody this week following a positive extradition decision, the Manhattan prosecutor said.
