Dallinga started on the bench (coach Philippe Montanier had made a few changes after reaching the Coupe de France final on Thursday), but came on for the injured Brecht Dejaegere after just nine minutes. About 22 minutes later it was hit: the Dutchman was the last link in a beautiful attack.
It was Dallinga’s twelfth goal of this Ligue 1 season. He is joint seventh on the top scorers list, right behind Lionel Messi (fourteen goals) and Neymar (thirteen), among others. Kylian Mbappé and Lille striker Jonathan David lead the dance with nineteen hits.
Dallinga is in his first season in France. He came over from Excelsior last summer, where he had a dream season with 36 goals in 44 games (in all competitions).
In the match against Montpellier, Dallinga’s teammate Farès Chaïbi made it 0-2 just before time. Elye Wahi did something in return on behalf of the home club, but that was it.
In addition to Dallinga, Stijn Spierings and former AZ striker Zakaria Aboukhlal came in for Toulouse. Branco van den Boomen was a basic player. Toulouse is the number twelve in France after thirty matches.
