Dutch star chef Nick Bril had 1.67 per mille of alcohol in his blood when he ran over an employee in Antwerp in early January. That corresponds to at least eight glasses of alcohol. Driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.5 per mille is punishable.
The accident took place at Bril’s star restaurant in Antwerp, The Jane. The chef was leaving after a party and ran over an intern as he left the parking lot. The victim was already on the ground and is still in the hospital.
The chef himself called the police after the collision. His driver’s license was revoked and his car was seized.
The Jane has two Michelin stars. Bril opened the restaurant in 2014 together with chef Sergio Herman. In 2021, he became the full owner of the business, after Herman decided to leave the business.
