Dutch soldier killed in CV-90 exercise in Germany

A Dutch soldier was killed during an exercise in Germany. He is a 28-year-old army officer.

The officer was seriously injured during an exercise with a CV90 infantry fighting vehicle on an army compound in Bavaria. The soldier was resuscitated, but later died in hospital.

In the same incident, a 24-year-old soldier was slightly injured, the Ministry of Defense wrote in a press release. Both soldiers were stationed in the Johannes Post Barracks in Havelte. They would be deployed to Lithuania in the near future.

The ministry does not say in the press release what exactly happened. The military police have started an investigation led by the East Netherlands Public Prosecution Service. The military police said in a response that they cannot provide any further information due to the ongoing investigation.
