MusicThe 29-year-old Dutch singer Duncan Laurence recently reached an important milestone in his musical career: he reached the milestone of 1 billion streams on Spotify with the song ‘Arcade’. Only compatriots Tiësto (54) and Martin Garrix (27) preceded him.
With the song ‘Arcade’, Duncan Laurence went to the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv for the Netherlands in 2019. And with success, because with the catchy song he won the victory for our northern neighbors.
Now – four years after his participation – the song has reached an important milestone on Spotify: 1 billion streams. But that’s a bittersweet victory, because Laurence the team behind the ‘Arcade’ song is anything but going well…

Wouter Hardy (32), who co-wrote the song, already announced via Instagram that he is “very proud” of the success of ‘Arcade’. He would also have contacted Duncan Laurence himself and the two would have contacted each other again:
“This is of course very special and we can both put things aside and say, ‘It’s okay.’ We are just mega proud and we also think back to that period when we were in the studio together and it was just nice to say that to each other, ”Hardy told ‘RTL Boulevard’.
In May it became known that Laurence had fallen out with the team behind ‘Arcade’ because of royalties disputes and the “unfair treatment in the run-up to Tel Aviv”, Hardy said at the time.
