That’s how I understand this too (or am I reading this completely wrong ), seems to me a rather absurd requirement (if this is really true) since that is the job of the manufacturer.

Although it would be nice if stores put more pressure on manufacturers to release less stuff that gets “only a short period” of updates.
Recently an acquaintance was angry because he could no longer watch Netflix on his Samsung TV, now he has the TV a little shorter than what it exists (bought last year, but apparently that model came out earlier than that) but for someone who is not tech savvy, this could be an issue.
And then I said “you can possibly buy a chromecast” but he does not accept that, in his eyes it is “nonsense” that the product was abandoned so quickly (his TV) so he connects his laptop to the TV to watch Netflix to be able to look like that.
It goes too fast, and on the one hand it is logical that manufacturers prefer to see you buy a new device from them every 1 or 2 years, but I don’t think it works that way, and then I am silent about the whole environmental aspect also.
