Dutch rapper Murda, who was arrested in Turkey, is not allowed to leave that country for the time being. His management confirms that. Yesterday it was announced that the rapper had been arrested at the airport in Istanbul on Saturday evening and was released the next day. According to his management, he was arrested because in some songs he raps about drugs and sex.
The rapper was supposed to fly back today, but that has been postponed pending the handling of his case, his management says. Management thinks the rapper will be able to leave the country soon. This weekend a performance is planned in Germany and Monday he has to perform in Austria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is in contact with the rapper. He can receive consular assistance if desired, a spokesperson said.

Murda, whose real name is Önder Dogan, was born in Amsterdam in 1984. The rapper is popular in Turkey. He is a jury member for the Turkish rap version of The Voice. His songs have been listened to millions of times on Spotify.
In 2008 the rapper released his first album. He has worked with other Dutch artists, including Ronnie Flex, Bizzey and Kraantje Pappie.
