Party leader of Forum for Democracy (FvD) Thierry Baudet has walked out of a broadcast of ‘Jinek’ after jokes by comedian Martijn Koning. The program has since distanced itself from Koning. The latter has already responded via social media.

A turbulent broadcast of the talk show ‘Jinek’ from news site Eva Jinek concluded with King’s jokes regarding Baudet. The comedian was not tender to the extreme right-wing politician. He referred to, among other things, the Jewish background of Baudet’s fiancé Davide Heijmans and the Indonesian roots of the FvD party leader himself. ‘You will soon become the father of Menachem or Sarah Baudet and then as an anti-Semitic voter you will feel quite put in your brown shirt,’ says Koning, who referred to the background of Heijmans with the names.
‘If I were a racist I wouldn’t vote for you either. You say obediently that Europe must remain white and all that, but you yourself are quite diluted homeopathically with all kinds of Indonesian DNA. ‘
‘Racists may have a brain defect, but their eyes are fine. If they vote you in power, everyone with a black color will be thrown out, but then all of a sudden we get a lot of Asians here. ‘ During that last part, Baudet walked out of the studio.
Racist Whatsapp messages
Before Koning spoke, racist and anti-Semitic Whatsapp messages within the FvD were already under the microscope in the program. A discussion arose about Baudet’s former right-hand man Theo Hiddema, who has since left the party. In a clip that was shown, he said that he was aware of the racist reports and that that was why he left the FvD.
However, Hiddema said after the broadcast that he was portrayed incorrectly. According to him, Jinek shows that fragment ‘as if I portray Baudet as a racist’, it sounded on Twitter. “Apparently it has not been mentioned that I also said that I got to know Baudet as a carefree human child who has too cheerful life to be able to treat people because of a tan.”
Political reporter Floor Bremer, who interviewed Baudet earlier in the episode, has since distanced himself from King’s jokes. ‘I don’t support the lyrics of comedian Martijn Koning. I totally distance myself from the content ‘, it sounds on Twitter.
The comedian himself responded to the fuss via Instagram with the following message: ‘Today I did a bit at Jinek, which caused quite a stir. I make these kinds of pieces without consulting the editors of Jinek. I never send pieces for inspection in advance. I do not want that. As a comedian, I want to be completely free in what I say and I really appreciate that I get that freedom. I hope the excitement can now revert to what was said at the table. ‘
It is not the first time that Baudet runs away before the end of a broadcast. In February he abruptly ended an interview with journalist Emma Wortelboer. He could not appreciate the questions at the time. “I also think it’s such a disgusting, irritating, superficial NPO-like interview,” he said.
