Dutch Nationals Leave Gaza Strip with Assistance from Ministry of Foreign Affairs

05 dec 2023 om 18:06

Six people with a Dutch link left the Gaza Strip on Tuesday. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On Monday, nine Dutch people were already able to cross the border. The ministry is still in contact with ten Dutch people in Gaza.

The six Dutch people traveled to Egypt via the border at Rafah. There they were received by a team from the Dutch embassy. They are taken to the capital Cairo, where they will receive further assistance from the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs.

The six will travel to the Netherlands in the coming days. For privacy reasons, the ministry provides little information about this.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently in contact with ten people with a Dutch link in the Gaza Strip. This concerns people with Dutch nationality, their possible family members or people with Dutch residence status.

“We hope and make every effort to ensure that they too can leave Gaza as quickly as possible,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a press release. “For safety reasons, we will communicate about this after people have been able to safely leave the area.”

Since November 2, 42 people with whom the ministry has been in contact have been able to leave Gaza.
