Freek proposed to his girlfriend Suzan in Berlin last July after a relationship of more than fourteen years. At first they didn’t seem to be in a hurry to get married, but on Saturday, December 2, the time finally came. ‘What a dream weekend, we got married! For a weekend of nothing but love, delicious dining, crying about the speeches and dancing until we couldn’t anymore, and all with the sweetest friends and family around us,” Suzan and Freek write proudly on Instagram. ‘Congratulations! You look beautiful!’, responds colleague Camille Dhont. Pauline Slangen, Jasper Steverlinck, Roxeanne Hazes and Gers Pardoelen also congratulate the couple.

“We were fourteen and fifteen when we started dating in high school and we always stayed together. We are a very good team and get along well with each other,” Suzan said earlier this year. “We have never tried very hard for that. Music keeps our relationship exciting. We are going through a lot. The performances give us a lot of energy, but to keep going we take time off to rest. We love boating, kite surfing, winter sports, adventure travel… Freek also gives me a lot of self-confidence. He calms me down when I am unsure or nervous before a performance. Like any couple, we bicker with each other – we can argue endlessly – but we can have a good laugh about it afterwards.” “People with a boring job often look for stimulation in their spare time, but as artists we get to experience a lot, so we can benefit from each other. Suzan also gives me peace and confidence that I am doing well,” Freek added.
