An evacuation flight commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Defense has departed from Sudan for the eighth and final time. The occupants will be taken to Jordan on Saturday evening with a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft. In total, at least 160 Dutch people have been evacuated from the African country.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported to NU.nl that no more evacuation flights would depart. But a spokesperson emphasized that an extra aircraft was ready, “should a large group of Dutch people report”.
An extra evacuation flight departed from Sudan on Saturday evening. That flight is the last to be operated by the Netherlands, the ministry said.

Most Dutch nationals known to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be in Sudan have now been evacuated. There were 190. Contact with the last stragglers was difficult because of poor internet.
The evacuations of Dutch people took place via Dutch evacuation flights or those of other countries. In total, at least 160 Dutch people were removed from the country in this way, of whom more than 85 with aircraft from the air force. About 130 evacuees from eighteen other nationalities have flown on Dutch flights.
Like many other countries, the Netherlands started evacuations after a conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) escalated into massive violence two weeks ago. More than 450 people were killed in the armed struggle and thousands were injured.
