Dutch Man Injured in Prague Shooting Out of Danger, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Reports

The Dutch man who was injured in the shooting in a university building in Prague on Thursday is out of danger. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this on Friday morning.

According to the spokesperson, the man is still in hospital. The ministry does not want to say anything about the identity of the man for privacy reasons. For the same reason, the spokesperson could not say why the man was in Prague.

A shooting took place at a university in the center of Prague on Thursday afternoon. Fourteen people were killed, including the shooter who also took his own life. Later his father was also found dead.

The police do not yet know what drove the suspected perpetrator, a 24-year-old student, to his act. He had no criminal history. The police do not assume a terrorist motive.

Charles University has already raised more than 340,000 euros with a fundraising campaign for the relatives of victims. More than 8,200 people donated.
