Ruud Gullit, the former Dutch footballing great, has offered advice to his compatriot Erik Ten Hag about the management of Ronaldo.

Batavian icon Ruud Gullit believes Cristiano Ronaldo will be the one to decide whether his future will be at Manchester United or not. The former Chelsea manager believes that even new manager Erik ten Hag will not have the power to rule on the five-time Ballon d’Or case.
Gullit confided in an interview to Ziggo Sports “Do I expect Ronaldo to continue at Manchester United? It all depends on Ten Hag’s plans. We will see. I think it’s Ronaldo himself who decides whether he stays or not, not Ten Hag. What he has achieved with Manchester United, again it is beyond expectation”.

“What would I do if I was Ten Hag?” Of course I would keep him, continued the 1988 European champion. I’m sorry, but he scores goals for you. So why not keep it? At Ajax there are always important players who always have to play. Look at Dusan Tadic, he still has to play. In any training this is the case. Just build a team around such players. It’s the same with Ronaldo.”
The 1987 Ballon d’Or went up a notch claiming that Ronaldo had nothing to do with the calamitous season the Red Devils endured. “He scored a lot of goals which were important for United,” he recalled. In any case, it is not his fault this season. But of course it is very annoying for him to constantly have to hear that he was holding the youngsters back and that the team would only be occupied by him.
