Jakarta –
After confirming that he could strengthen the Indonesian National Team, Shayne Pattynama now just waiting for a call from the coach Shin Tae-yong. Indonesia is scheduled to try out against Palestine in June.
As previously reported, Shayne is now officially in the Indonesian National Team uniform. This certainty was obtained after the general chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, stated that Shayne could switch federations.
Both FIFA and the KNVB have sent a letter to PSSI as a sign that the administration of the transfer of the Dutch-Indonesian footballer has been completed. That way, Shayne can freely carry the name of the Indonesian National Team on his back.
Even if it’s done, fate Shayne being able to play with the Indonesian National Team still has to be determined by Coach Shin Tae-yong. Incidentally, Indonesia is scheduled to hold a FIFA Match Day against Palestine in June.
“So Shayne’s business has finished. FIFA has given several considerations for this. Furthermore, Shayne can be made a player now depending on the coach,” PSSI Executive Committee member Arya Sinulingga told reporters on Friday (14/4/2023).
Shayne himself had previously been summoned by Coach Shin Tae-yong to strengthen the Indonesian national team against Burundi at the end of March. But it was delayed because there was no letter of approval for moving the federation from the KNVB (Dutch Football Federation).
Even at that time, Shin Tae-yong also regretted what happened to Shayne Pattynama.
“This is very unfortunate. Shayne has tried a lot to get Indonesian citizens. Until now the process of moving the federation should have been completed, but it hasn’t been done until now. It’s very unfortunate,” said the coach from South Korea, some time ago.
Shayne himself became the third naturalized player under coach Shin Tae-yong, after Jordi Amat and Sandy Walsh. Shayne Pattynama has officially become an Indonesian citizen since last January. He has taken the oath at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Cawang, Jakarta.
