Last year, a record number of guests used Dutch hotels, campsites and holiday parks. 49.7 million people, an increase of more than eight percent compared to 2022, CBS reports.

This increase is due to the large number of foreign guests who came to spend the night in the Netherlands: 20.4 million, almost a quarter more than in 2022. The number of foreign guests is therefore back to the level before the corona crisis, when travel between countries was strong. became more difficult.

Especially hotels

Most guests stayed in a hotel last year, 32.6 million people. Holiday parks received 10.4 million people, campsites 5.2 million.

Of the foreign guests in these accommodations, most came from Germany (7.2 million), Belgium (2.5 million) and the United Kingdom (2 million).

The most popular destination was traditionally Amsterdam (9 million people, an increase of 21 percent). The other major cities also saw a significant increase in the number of guests: Rotterdam and Utrecht with 19 percent, The Hague with 11 percent.
