Dutch game makers set up investment fund for game studios – Gaming – News

A group of more than twenty-five Dutch game developers have jointly established a new fund for Dutch game studios: Midgame Fund. The developers want to use the fund to lend game makers in the Netherlands to make more successful games.

Applicants must be Dutch game makers and can apply for between 10,000 euros and 150,000 euros at Midgame Fund. In addition, the game studios can call on the knowledge and network of the fund’s investors. Among the game makers involved are Adriaan de Jongh from the game Hidden Folks, Rami Ismail from the Vlambeer studio and Gert-Jan Stolk from DoubleDoutch, best known for the SpeedRunners game.

Via the website from Midgame Fund, game makers can submit a pitch for financial support. To be able to pitch, the team must be from the Netherlands and the investors want to see a prototype or a first working version of the game.

If a number of investors find it an interesting project, they will support the creators. If the game is going to be sold, the makers have to pay back the investment of the fund with ‘a little extra’ to support new projects.

If the project is unsuccessful, the makers do not have to repay the investment. Midgame Fund also does not want any say in projects and game studios are free to cooperate with publishers and other parties.
