The Silver Curly Tils were awarded at the Dutch Film Festival in Utrecht. The awards for the writers of the best film and television scripts in 2023 went to Britt Snel, Mieke de Jong and Victoria Warmerdam. The winners are chosen each year by the Writers’ Union, who want to create more interest in screenwriters with this award.
Britt Snel won with her writing for the film Zomervacht, about a thirteen-year-old boy who has to take care of his mentally disabled older brother during the summer holidays. Mieke de Jong received a Silver Curly Tail for the four-part series Lampje, about the nine-year-old daughter of a lighthouse keeper. And the screenplay for I’m Not a Robot, by Victoria Warmerdam, also won awards.
The most visited movie
The fourth award went to screenwriter Donny Singh. He received the Golden Pen for the screenplay of De Tatta, the most visited Dutch cinema film last year with 501,903 visitors.
Before that, Gooische Vrouwen (2009), De Luizen Moeder (2018) and the film De Verkoopling (2021, about the Deventer murder case) won Zilveren Krulstaart.
