Dutch film Do Not Hesitate no longer has a chance at an Oscar

The last time a Dutch feature film was nominated was in 2004. The Twins then had a chance to win the prestigious film prize. The short film A Single Life had a chance in 2014. The last time the Netherlands really won an Oscar was in 1998 – with the film Character.

Earlier, the makers of the Dutch film The Battle of the Scheldt their dissatisfaction with the nomination of Do Not Hesitate. They said they were “hugely disappointed” that their war film was not the Dutch entry for the Oscars. That war story attracted half a million visitors and won five Golden Calves.

The 94th Oscars, the most important American film awards, will be on March 27 next year.
