Dutch embassy warns of possible attack on Islamabad | Abroad

The Dutch embassy in Pakistan invites you not to go to the Marriott Hotel in the capital Islamabad. US intelligence indicates that an attack on the hotel could be carried out during the holiday season.

The US Embassy in Islamabad put on guard The Americans already last weekend about a possible bomb attack in the hotel. The Pakistani capital is on high alert following a suicide bombing last week. Local authorities have therefore strengthened security measures in the city. All public gatherings are prohibited.

The Dutch embassy in Islamabad has also issued a warning. “Stay alert, be extremely vigilant, try to visit crowded and unprotected places as little as possible and follow the news,” the Dutch embassy in Islamabad said. It does not report from which angle the threat would come.

The US government has previously said it is aware of “unknown persons” who may be targeting Americans in the hotel.

Last Friday, a police officer in Islamabad was killed in a suicide bombing. The officer hailed a cab for a check, after which someone in the back seat detonated a bomb. Ten others were injured.

Since then, the authorities in Islamabad have been on high alert. In this way even more people and vehicles are checked.
