The Amsterdam police suspect that the sexual orientation of Boris Itzkovich Escobar, known as drag queen Envy Peru, played a role in last Tuesday’s assault. Police are calling for witnesses to come forward.
The 34-year-old Escobar, seen in TV programs such as Drag Race Holland in Make Up Your Mindwas on the bus to Central Station on Tuesday afternoon when he was verbally abused and insulted by four boys sitting opposite him.
According to the police, he was also physically assaulted and threatened with a metal object. According to the man, a woman on the bus stands up for him, but this does not move the four men to stop.
Police are looking for women who came to the rescue
After the bus arrived at the station, Escobar was chased by the boys, according to police. He was then kicked to the ground near the station’s control gates. Two women then came to his aid, after which the boys ran away. Police would like to speak to them and other possible witnesses.
No one has been arrested yet. According to the police, the assailants are young men between the ages of 15 and 22. The incident is under investigation.
