Diver Else Praasterink qualified for the World Cup finals in the 10-meter tower event in the Qatari capital Doha on Monday. The South Holland native also qualified for the Olympic Games.
Twenty-year-old Praasterink finished ninth in the semi-finals. The best twelve tower jumpers qualified for the final battle and the Games in Paris. The World Cup final starts on Monday at 4:30 PM Dutch time.
The jumper, who studies in Kentucky, American, achieved a total score of 285.80 with her five jumps. The Chinese Xuxi Chen was the best, just like in the preliminary round. Her five jumps yielded a total score of 421.85.
It is the second time that Praasterink has reached the World Cup final of the 10 meter tower. She finished eleventh on her debut at the tournament in June 2022.
Marloes Steenbeek, Noortje and Bregje de Brouwer and Celine van Duijn and Inge Jansen also have a chance to win medals. Steenbeek is in the final of the solo free freestyle, the twin sisters De Brouwer come into action in the final battle of the technical exercise and Van Duijn and Jansen go for gold in the synchronized jumping of the 3-meter board.
