The Dutch defender Jurriën Timber, recently signed by Arsenal, started his journey through the Premier League on the wrong foot, despite the fact that in two games he already won a title with his new cast.
The Gunners reported that the defender suffered an “anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee”, which portends several months out.
The left-back, from Ajax Amsterdam, was injured on his own while defensively withdrawing at the start of the second half in the game on Saturday, August 12, against Nottingham Forest, which ended with a 2-1 victory for his team at the start of the Premier League.

“Jurriën is going to undergo surgery in the next few days and will be out for a while,” Arsenal announced.
High cost signing
The 22-year-old Dutch international joined the English runner-up club in mid-July for around €40m.
Timber was at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and played a total of four matches. In addition, he was part of the last Eurocup, reaching the round of 16.
He wore the Ajax jersey for four seasons, making 121 appearances and scoring six goals. He achieved two Eredivisie titles and a Dutch Cup.

Arsenal defenders
Without Timber, who could miss most of the season, Arsenal is once again unbalanced in a position that cost them the Premier League title last season.
Although the duo of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have given guarantees, the substitutes Jakub Kiwior and Rob Holding have not given such good results. That is why in many cases coach Mikel Arteta has had to improvise Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu in that position.
Another big injured in the Premier League
In addition to the Arsenal defender, in the last hours English football was notified of the serious injury of one of the most emblematic players of Manchester City, the Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

Despite returning from injury as a substitute in the FA Super Cup against Arsenal, and starting the league opener against Burnley last Friday, De Bruyne was only able to play for 23 minutes before suffering a relapse. .
The outlook is discouraging. Guardiola’s words, admitting the possibility of a mistake in his selection, have sparked speculation as to whether De Bruyne’s return was hasty, given previous injuries in the same area: “It may be that I was wrong to select him, if he is injured later 15 or 20 minutes there is something wrong. If he had been in 65 or 70 it would be muscle fatigue ”, declared Pep
Guardiola blamed the calendar
Within the explanations for the Belgian’s injury, the Manchester City coach did not hesitate to refer to the calendar duel they have to face.
Manchester City will face Sevilla this Wednesday, August 16, for the European Super Cup, starting at 2:00 pm at the Georgios Karaiskakis stadium, in Greece.
