Dutch cyclist Van der Poel pleaded guilty to assault in Australia

Dutch cyclist Mathieu van der Poel pleaded guilty Monday to assaulting two teenagers in a Sydney hotel and was sentenced to pay a fine of AU $ 1,500 (€ 1,010), court sources said.

The 27-year-old was arrested on the eve of the 2022 Cycling World Championships in Wollongong when he was one of the favorites. After the accident he took part in the test, but ended up leaving the race after 30 kilometers.
