Dutch court orders prolific sperm donor to cease donations immediately

A Dutch court has ordered the sperm donor from the Netherlands, who is credited with more than 550 children in 13 clinics in various countries, including Spain, to stop these donations immediately or could be fined up to 100,000 euros.

Jonathan Jacob Meijer, the 41-year-old donor, must provide a list with all the clinics where he has donated semen and ask that they destroy the reserves they still have, including those that are already reserved for parents who already have a child of theirs, according to the newspaper. ‘Dutch News’.

In addition, the Donorkind foundation has accused the man of “misleading hundreds of women around the world”; when Meijer was blacklisted after his “excessive donation” came to light, he continued to offer his services abroad and under another name.

The authorities in the Netherlands are already working on a central registry of sperm donors and the regulations have been changed so that a donor can only provide sperm to a maximum of twelve women, when previously it was allowed to father up to 25 children.
