Engel posted another tweet stating that sharing her address information is not intended to intimidate. “In no way is this an appeal or incitement to intimidation or violence or threat, we are the decent people. This is about transparency from someone who becomes finance minister.” Sigrid Kaag will normally take the oath tomorrow as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in the new Dutch government.
According to a spokesperson for her party D66, Kaag will file a complaint against Engel, who has more than 14,400 followers on Twitter.
In this corona crisis, Dutch politicians are increasingly being personally threatened. Earlier this week, a man was arrested who walked around Kaag’s house with a burning torch. Resigning Health Minister Hugo De Jonge says he is threatened almost daily and has had permanent police guards in front of his door for several weeks.
