Dutch corona evacuees will arrive in Eindhoven this evening

Last week the Dutch government decided to get its citizens back from the province of Hubei because of the corona virus. In this campaign, the Netherlands went with various European countries.

In addition to the Dutch, over 50 Europeans also flew on the run. These are Belgians, Danes, Czechs and Slovaks. The plane departed Friday from Charles de Gualle airport in France and flew back to Brussels via Marseille.

From Belgium, the Dutch are jointly transported by bus to Eindhoven Airport, this is the usual location for a guided return from abroad. According to a spokesperson, they are expected to arrive around 7.30 p.m.

No symptoms

Before departure, all passengers in China and France were checked several times for symptoms. In addition, no symptoms of a coronavirus infection have been identified, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport reports. Upon arrival in the Netherlands there is another medical check.

“If these people had been ill, they would not have been allowed to participate,” said Minister Bruins of Medical Care & Sport about this to RTL News. If there are symptoms on arrival, measures will be taken. “If someone becomes a patient, he goes into hospital isolation.”

Preventive quarantine measures apply to the Dutch and the two family members, which means that they must all spend fourteen days in isolation. Where they go in isolation is viewed on a case-by-case basis. This does not necessarily have to be in a hospital, it can also be in a home situation.

The GGD will discuss this with the Dutch, and thereby examine how suitable their home is for quarantine. “You can imagine that a student house is not a suitable place,” says Bruins. “But someone who lives alone keeps people at a distance more easily and then he could very well stay in home quarantine.”

The GGD then makes clear agreements about what they can and cannot do. “Before those people are placed in quarantine, they will receive further information about this.”
