Dutch Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema Nominated for Oscar for Oppenheimer

Dutch cameraman Hoyte van Hoytema has been nominated for an Oscar for Oppenheimer. It is one of thirteen nominations for the film about scientist Robert Oppenheimer.

It is the second Oscar nomination for Van Hoytema, who also had a chance in 2018 with his camera work in Dunkirk, also a film by Christopher Nolan. The last Dutchman to win an Oscar so far was Michael Dudok de Wit in 2000 for the short animation Father and Daughter.

Director Nolan himself also has a chance to win the most important film prize. His biopic about Robert Oppenheimer, who is also called the father of the atomic bomb, also has a chance of winning prizes for Best Film and Best Script, for example. Also included were actors Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt nominated in the categories of Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.
