On Sunday, August 18th, a historical walk through the Spa Park will be held in Duszniki-Zdrój, led by Łukasz Przybylak. Starting at 2:00 p.m.
Duszniki’s historic Spa Park is turning 255 this year, and the project that brought it fame was created 138 years ago. Work will soon begin to restore it to its former glory.
Why was the Duszniki park a pearl of European gardening and a model for gardening enthusiasts from all over Europe? How was it composed and how did it look in full bloom in the 1920s? What did the great fountain for which it was famous look like? What was so impressive about the carpet flower beds designed by Carl Hampel, a master of carpet gardening? Where did the water axis lead from and to? Where was the goddess Hygea, the mythological patron of the Duszniki park? How can the past and present be reconciled in the process of revalorisation?
Łukasz Przybylak, author of the concept of the revitalization of the Duszniki park, specialist in historical gardens, president of the European Route of Historical Gardens and president of the Eduard Petzold Foundation, will talk about all this. He was the head of the garden department at the royal palace in Wilanów, where he was responsible for the current care and revitalization of the garden. He is currently a consultant to the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland for historical gardens, where he takes care of the image of the gardens at the Presidential Palace and Belweder.
The walk will start at 2:00 p.m. – gathering at the entrance to the park from Zdrojowa Street.
