While riding his scooter, the reality star passed out and due to a hard blow to his head, he ended up in a coma. “There was blood from my eye, my mouth and my ear.” Because of the bleeding, he had to go under the knife and had major brain surgery. It soon became apparent that Dusty was in mortal danger. “There was a hole in my carotid artery, so I almost died.”
After about two months, he regained consciousness, surprising his doctors. “They thought it was really bizarre that I recovered so quickly after such a bad accident.” Dusty explains that he learned ‘nothing at all’ from the accident. “Luckily I didn’t feel any pain.”
The scooter accident happened in Zandvoort and according to rumors Dusty was drunk behind the wheel. He explains that none of this is true. After the incident, however, he made a drastic decision. “I never drank again because it can affect my brain. So I’ve been sober for a year now.” Although he is known for being a party animal and he liked a drink, Dusty is happy with his new lifestyle. “It was a matter of getting used to. Drinking is very bad for you anyway.”

The photos and videos that his family took of him during his coma and the period after have made a big impression on the reality star. “Death was imminent. Fortunately, I got out of it very well and I can still do everything.” Today, Dusty looks at life very differently: “Enjoy it, because tomorrow is not always given to you.”
