Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Dustin O’Halloran gained wider popularity as a film and TV music composer – the most famous of the films are Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette (2016) and Garth Davies Lion (2017). In 2015, he obtained Emmy award for music for the series Transparent; the recording has also been nominated for cinema awards such as Oscar, Golden GlobeBAFTA one Critics Choice. As a producer, O’Halloran also worked on Katy Perry’s song Into Me You See (2017), appears on Leonard Cohen’s 2019 posthumous album Thanks For The Dance (2019) and participated in many musical joint projects.
In 2019, Dustin signed a contract with the opposite classical music label German gramophone, featuring his latest solo album Silver (2021). It also includes previously released compositions rearranged in new arrangements.
Par Silver O’Halloran himself says: “The album explores the music I wrote in the past and how it affects me now. It brings back memories of different moments, places, events in my life and reveals pieces that have stayed with me through time. Sometimes we can only understand ourselves looking back and hopefully finding a thread between who we are now and who we’ve always been.”
At the concert, we will hear the compositions of Cēsis O’Halloran’s latest album performed by a trio – Dustin O’Halloran himself at the piano, Charlotte Danje – cello (Charlotte Danhier) and violin – Margareta Hermānas, who will also be the warm-up artist of the evening. Both musicians are part of an ensemble Echo Collective participants.
Violinist, harpist and composer Margareta Hermānas is part of the ensemble Echo Collective co-founder, as well as the association Four MP4 and BOW member of the quintet. She collaborated with such communists and musicians as Jóhann Jóhannsson, Adam Witlzie, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Stars of the Lid, Joep Beving, Christina Vantzou and others.
At the Ambiente stage, in the opening of the concert, visitors will be able to enjoy Marta’s harp playing, which will gradually bring pianist Dustin Oheloran’s music into the sound room, which is characterized by lightness and graceful, lyrical aesthetics.
