The interpellation asks why the public was lied to about the pandemic management plan. The answer is given by the Minister in the first minutes of the live broadcast: the draft was prepared by many and the President Gitan Nauseda Confirmed.
“The first person I took this plan to was the country’s president. In December, the plan was discussed at a freshly formed council of independent experts under the government. In the early months, it was like a project posted and on our page, it can be found there. I do not know how many dozen people who were involved in the development of that plan took part in its various stages: it is also possible to talk to the people on the board of experts. “It’s just strange to me that I’m not going to run an information campaign now to prove where the plan is, if the project has been in place for a long time and we’re working on it,” the minister said.
The minister says he receives a wide range of letters: some of the writers still believe that they are involved in the disinformation mechanism and do not contribute to the management of the pandemic – investigations have been launched into several letters received.
“I had to take part in interviews with researchers. I apologized to them very much for the fact that those investigations were going on, somehow I felt bad for myself, but they encouraged me to do the right thing. Research is underway, I don’t know the details or results yet, but I see a preventive meaning. The impact is: both my children and I personally have been reduced to all kinds of threats. “If you want to criticize, please – there is always an opportunity to write, pour out and criticize, offer, but you just have to never go beyond certain limits,” the politician emphasizes.
A major breakthrough occurred when the children of the minister became the target of threats.
“It simply came to our notice then. I just kept holding on until I touched my kids. When I touched the children, I realized – stop, the point, I will not allow this anymore and I will not give up my family in this way. I already feel a lot of debt to children and in general, how can children be touched at all is so low. These were already such direct threats, naming measures and other things, so I had to apply, ”the Minister says.
According to the politician, Lithuania should align with the Nordic practice and cultivate a sense of public responsibility through financially expensive medical services.
“The Nordic health care system has had rules for a long time: if you did not take part in prevention programs for any other illnesses and were hospitalized, it would be a completely different expense for you. Meanwhile (…) we do not have a clear correlation between how much I have contributed to health care and how much service I am receiving. There, nations are already accustomed to taking on more responsibility and knowing that if you do not participate in prevention programs, you may have to have a completely different relationship with your personal or other expenses, ”says the Minister.
