Düsseldorf: Trial against clan crime begins today

Under strict security precautions, the trial against five alleged members of a criminal clan begins in the morning (March 1st, 2021) in Düsseldorf. The men are said to be responsible for kidnapping, severe abuse and fraud, among other things. They are said to have offered luxury cars on the Internet to bring potential buyers hundreds of thousands of euros.

The men are accused of robbery, assault and kidnapping. The defendants, who allegedly belong to the notorious Kurdish-Lebanese El Zein clan, are said to have offered a Rolls Royce on the Internet for EUR 150,000. They are said to have stolen EUR 100,000 from the buyer without handing the car over to him. In another case, they are said to have kidnapped a Dutch car dealer and severely abused. According to the indictment, the men are said to have caused a total of more than EUR 300,000 in damage.
