Not only local public transport is paralyzed. Verdi also announced strikes in other companies and public facilities in Düsseldorf for Thursday.
Accordingly, the restrictions should also affect the city daycare centers, the citizen offices, the vehicle registration office and the bathrooms. The city administration, the LVR-Klinikum, the employment agency, the job center and the German pension insurance Rhineland are called for Thursday to strike.
The background is a current collective bargaining dispute in the public sector. The union demands a wage increase of 10.5 percent, but at least 500 euros. Further strike measures could follow in the coming weeks. (gr)
