Düsseldorf & Cologne Airport: Awesome! Airline announces it itself

Holiday in the south? Many Germans still prefer to fly. Düsseldorf and Cologne/Bonn, the largest airports in North Rhine-Westphalia, now have good news for all sun seekers in the west.

A new airline is launching. Not just at Düsseldorf and Cologne airports, but nationwide. It only flies to one destination – but non-stop and very frequently. This should be a great delight for holidaymakers in Turkey.

Düsseldorf and Cologne Airport: New airline flies nonstop to Antalya

Freebird is the name of the airline that is now trying its hand at the German market. It is a Turkish-Maltese cooperation and flies to many holiday destinations in their home countries. In Germany, it is concentrating (for now) on one destination: its home airport in Antalya.

For many Germans, the city on the Mediterranean coast is a popular region for summer or winter holidays – or the flight destination for an onward journey to Belek, Side & Co. Thanks to Freebird, there are now a number of more options for flights to Turkey. From Cologne alone, a Freebird plane will take off for Antalya every day in the summer of 2024/25. From Düsseldorf, too, except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Freebird: Many nonstop flights nationwide

There are also two flights a week from the NRW city of Paderborn, as well as from Hanover and Frankfurt airports, which are easily accessible from the west. Freebird is also now part of the program in Berlin, Erfurt, Friedrichshafen, Karlsruhe, Hamburg, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart.

Also interesting: The largest airports

In winter, the number of flights at Düsseldorf and Cologne airports is slightly reduced. However, there is the opportunity to fly non-stop to Antalya three times a week.
