“The animals are now examined and cared for at the Düsseldorf animal shelter. At first glance, the condition of the animals is acceptable, ”said a city spokesman.

A total of 19 dogs were encountered in the house, but the emergency services left one animal there. “The person was allowed to keep an animal,” said the spokesman. It is assumed that she suffers from a pathological addiction to collecting animals (“Animal Hoarding”) and is now trying to curb her coercion.

According to BILD information, the owner of the 19 dogs is no stranger: As early as July 2011, the then 53-year-old was said to have kept 113 poodles under catastrophic circumstances. The veterinary office released the animals, and a year later the woman was convicted of violating the Animal Welfare Act and had to pay a fine. A city spokesman: “We check whether the person was allowed to keep a dog.”
