“You Dutch are proud of the way you experience football, watch football and certainly Ajax. The Dutch School, Ajax DNA, you name it,” Tadic tells VI. “And rightly so, because you are leading in the world. Think of Rinus Michels, Johan Cruijff, Louis van Gaal. You have created and developed a certain kind of football idea. Then explain to me: why did a German man suddenly have to decide how everything would start working at Ajax? Totally absurd!”
“You can’t even blame Mislintat,” the 35-year-old attacker continues. “But the people within Ajax who put him in that place and let him act in this way. They make the policy, they have to monitor it. With strong people it would never have happened this way.”

According to Tadic, Mislintat was ‘not a bad man’. “He spoke very positively about me and wanted me to stay. But in all honesty: he did not feel like the right person in such an important position for Ajax.”
Tadic chose to have his contract terminated, after which he left for Fenerbahçe. “But I definitely don’t want to be negative about Mislintat, because it was nothing personal. And at another club his vision might work. Moreover, he handled the situation very professionally and helped with a farewell, which I appreciated .”
